“Peranakan Beaded Slippers, also known as Kasut Manek, are beaded footwear made and worn by Peranakan women as part of her traditional dress. The intricate and fine workmanship is the hallmark of the skills and patience of the accomplished Nyonyas.
The Chinese Phoenix, Queen of Birds, graces us with her presence in the artwork. She symbolises virtue and beauty, much like the Nyonya of days past.”
